Poster of Fortune

After the success of my poster for the previous Type Director’s Club poster show, I was asked back for a second time. This time to contribute to the Posters of Fortune show. This auction was curated by renowned cover designer, Peter Mendelsund, and Cardon Webb. Each of the 20 contributing designers received a fortune cookie. Upon arrival, we opened it up, and used the fortune as the base element for our posters. My fortune read, “Behind bad luck, comes good luck”. The show was around Easter time, so I decided that I wanted to design a “lucky rabbit” poster. From there it gets just a touch morbid, but let’s say it involves a really cute saw, an insurance claim, a lucky rabbit’s paw, and LOTS of settlement money. The poster was very well received, and actually, if I recall – was the second highest bid-upon poster in the bunch following another animal-themed poster by the ridiculously talented, and all-around nice guy Jon Gray (Gray318). It’s like I always say… if you’re going to lose to someone, it might as well be Jon Gray ; )
